Not a good day. Day 4 of quitting smoking. Stuffing my face to compensate for the cravings. 😪

When I quit smoking what helped me to stop binge eating packets and packets of nik naks all by myself was actually drinking hot camomile tea or valerian tea from the health shop or wellness shop. It naturally keeps the calm on the nerves and the whole sipping tea hand to mouth thing worked. I didn’t add milk or sugar to the teas and I must have had up to 5 cups a day most days.

Keep up the good work on your quit! It takes a lot in the beginning to keep it up but soon enough you’ll be so happy you did

Good luck. I quit in July and I must have gone thru a pack of gum a day. But through all the suffering and cravings I feel better in the end.

Try the Smokefree app. Really helped me to see how long I have been without etc

Just keep pushing. Try not to replace one craving with another. I quit 4 years ago and it's been the best thing I ever did

Liendempers, I had a few smokes in friday. But then stayed in the whole weekend. So I managed through the weekend without another smoke. And today went well. Started with exercise today as well. Hopefully it will help with cravings. 🤗 thanks.

Cold turkey.. not a good thing. Rather buy an al-cheapo vape from the shops. Buy a low nicotine one.. like 3mg or 6mg. Then after 2weeks go down to 1.5mg (mix 3mg with a 0mg flavor). I heard from most people... the nicotine is not bad, it's the "fidget" that gets to them the most. They say you get used to having something in the hand and puffing on it. My one friend switched to vaping. He loves the sweet watermelon flavours… he gets his low-end nicotine fix and off the "stinkies". Because you tend to vape more in the beginning (because you feel nervous and just want to grab a cig... you tend to take more puffs from a vape vs a normal cigg) but the worst part is to figure out.. the amount of puffs needed from vs to get the nic you need. } After a few weeks you can go lower nic. when your used to the flavor you like.. etc.

Eugene3000, i have been cutting back on smoking the last month . Going from smoking about half a pack a day to smoking about half a pack a week. So its not completely cold turkey. ☺️ But the difficult part is when its weekend and there is rugby and braai and so on. So I have to cut back on the socials until I have completely quit. Unfortunately I dont enjoy vape or twist. I have tried it, but it is not for me. 🤣. Thanks for the advice still. Much appreciated. Old habits die hard.

I quit smoking 6 months ago. I woke up one Friday morning had a smoke with a cup of coffee and said right I'm done. I went cold turkey and haven't had a smoke since then. What helped me is that no one at work smokes and my hubby who does smoke was away for the weekend so there was no one at home smoking. By Sunday night I was over most of the bad cravings. I also used a Stop smoking app which had a game on that every time you have a craving you play it until the craving was gone. I have picked up about 5kgs since then which I am hoping to lose soon. Good luck just take it one day at a time...

I went cold turkey last year May after a cancer scare and still going strong. What really helped me was a) motivation to why I stopped, b) staying away from triggers like drinking or socializing with other smokers, c) when the craving hits I sucked sugar free candy from Dischem or eat something crunchy like carrots or air- poped popcorn. Stay strong. You can do it.

I also quit in February this year. Cold Turkey. Fortunately, for me it was relatively easy, as my partner does not smoke, and no one at my office smokes either. Generally, no one close to me smokes. This has been one of the best things I have done in 2018. I gained a bit of weight after I quit, hence started my weight loss journey (with the help of FatSecret) towards the end of May. And I am happy to say that the weight gain is now gone! All the best with quitting. YOU. CAN. DO. THIS!
