Diario di Kevinlyfellow, 03 set 12

Still going strong. As one can notice from my weight, I am recording smoothed data and not my day to day weigh ins. If I was to record straight up data, It would really be all over the map and confusing. For instance, here are my last four raw weigh-ins before this morning:

08/30 188.0
08/31 187.0
09/01 188.0
09/02 188.4

Did I freak out? No, because it's noise and it doesn't mean a thing. The important aspect was that when smoothing this data out using an RC filter, one sees the following:

08/30 191.08
08/31 190.67
09/01 190.40
09/02 190.20

This data looks like I was losing weight throughout the entire period where I may have thought I was stagnant or even gaining. There is a disadvantage though, the filtered weight lags behind the actual weight.

When I weighed myself this morning, the result was 186.0. Is it time to celebrate? No, because part of that weight is noise and when I weigh myself tomorrow I could read a 187 again. The 186.0 reading continues to validate the trend that I am seeing, but does not indicate that I have lost a full 9 lbs.

I hope that the value is a bit on the low side. Truth isn't created by making a measurement and I am not feeling like I've lost 9 lbs of fat. If I am after a number, I can always buy a broken scale and eat all I want.
