Happy Thursday Everyone – I hope everyone had a great holiday and new year. I haven’t posted much as I have had family in and out as well as our 30yo son being home for the last two weeks. I did log everything and kept the WOE on track. Last year at the holidays I was still in shock with the failure of my pancreas and we really didn’t do anything – basically out of fear of the unknown. This year really felt “normal” and just like nothing was different. So, my lessons learned are that I can have whatever I want to eat – yes – even those evil holiday treats. I must plan and do the work to make it all balance out. I still made the gym and kept the workouts going. We made Keto Cheesecake, Eggnog, cookies and alternates for the mashed potatoes with Turnips and rutabagas. I am so grateful for this site and everyone who has offered guidance, ideas and posted their stories of success and failure. I need to take responsibility for my life if I want the results. I can’t just lie around and wait for others to take the action for me – I must be my biggest advocate. I hope you all find inspiration, compassion and courage in this new year. Life is a participant sport – I am going to keep on enjoying this adventure.

You have a great attitude. I need to remember that when I start to feel sorry for myself. Also, no one would think you would ever be a someone to 'lie around and wait for others to take action for me'.

Yours is a great story Tahoe— not that you have diabetes but that you recognized the need to change and you just DID IT. No fanfare— just did the homework and did it. I know it wasn’t as easy as I just made it seem, but you should be proud.
