Question to community. Confused !! I’ve seen intermittently to avoid diet soda and sugar substitutes. Thought behind this will spike your desire for sweets. In my case pasties, cakes, chocolates etc aren’t my issue. Just don’t put a bag of potato chips in front of me but again if not in sight doesn’t bother me Pasta is really my only vice even though I eat Dream Fields low carb pasta. Bottom line trying to search for actual reason no diet soda or sweeteners

What you want to avoid when low carbing is blood sugar spikes and insulin spikes. Some testing have been done on sugar substitutes which conclude that some people will see blood sugar spikes with them. Another concern is that because they are sweet they may be causing more cravings for sweet. It is up to you. Find out what works for you.

I don’t understand how Dreamfields can be considered low carb when the lead ingredient is semolina and it’s nutritional label says 41 carbs per serving! Ouch! 5 grams of fiber stated from inulin, wheat gluten.

Chow Moore thanks for your reply. Marked on box healthy carb High in fiber plus prebiotic fiber keeping a balance of fibers and plant proteins. Agree I was wrong stating a low carb pasta Dream fields has 41g carbs minus dietary fiber 5g makes it 36g total compared to reg pasta - carbs 42g minus 2g fiber total 40g. Guess you would say need to justify my one vice pasta

As long as you are in a caloric deficit / surplus (depending on your goal) with enough micronutrients (veggies), enough proteins and fat, you're pretty much gucci to eat whatever you want.

why dont you try lentil pasta/chickpea pasta?
