Had a very good day yesterday. Was definitely focused and motivated so the day seemed easy.
Unfortunately, it didn’t parlay into success at the scale.
I lost 1/10 of a lb. I wanted to catapult into the 280’s and I didn’t. Disappointing yes.
I have been hovering above the 290lb mark for weeks so I was positive that yesterday would be the day I moved on.
No one who has been successful at weight loss said it was easy.
I ate well yesterday. Why aren’t I 199lbs now?
This is bullshit! I want to wear those skinny jeans!

It’s simple, NOT EASY

Don't five up now. Maybe if you could conquer some of what you call old age pain it would seem better. Sounds like you are fighting more than weight. Once you allow old age pain to creep in it is difficult to reverse the process but it can be done. I feel fortunate that I can still do most things that I did in my 50's more than 20 years ago. I just never quit doing things. My Granddaughter is always telling me you shouldn't be doing that at your age. What does she know she isn't my age. Just keep on moving.

@wildernessny, I am trying...I really am! Trust me. I try to never use my physical limitations as an excuse but at 57 years old, I have pushed this body hard and long. Exercise and extreme physical exertion was always my forte! I spent 30 years in a gym pushing weights, always with the intent to be large and intimidating. The last 10 years I incorporated steroids into my regimen to better serve my needs on a softball field where I played on a nationally ranked team for 12 years. I retired from softball at 43 but I abused and neglected my body with steroids, playing through injuries to my knees, shoulder, elbows, wrists, fingers, ankles and back. That’s why I started the steroids. As time went on...the steroids became my crutch for my narcissistic side. I liked the Superman side effects it provided. Unfortunately, as a 19 year old, I was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and of course...that meant nothing to me as a young man. But as a 57 year old, I take 4 medications daily for that same heart! I really thought I would live in a gym until the day I died. Unfortunately, the last 5 years has really caught up to me physically and I no longer have the energy or desire to hang out with a new generation of gym goers who don’t understand gym etiquette. My real challenge is food, managing food and making good choices food-wise. I have always managed my weight through training. These days, I don’t have that calorie expenditure to fall back on so eating the right foods sensibly is the key and I am still a work in progress! As Rosio19 says...it’s simple, but not easy. If I can master food 🥘, being physical won’t be such a hindrance. So yes, being active regularly and consistently is my goal. Thank you for the reminder.

As we age our bodies are compensating for our past metabolic history and programming. Reprogramming is an individualized process and not as simple as it might seem it should be. "metabolic damage" is a term that applies to me, and I'm trying to figure out how to make it right again. It takes persistence, time and a lot of attention. Progress may be slow, but it's important work (that younger healthier people may not yet understand). Stick with it; you're doing yourself a big favor.

Dang, sorry about the ailments. I don't know if I could manage keeping the weight off without the gym.

chrisw77, erikahollister, and Diablo360x...I appreciate the encouragement. True and appropriate responses. I continue to tell myself that moving consistently in the right direction will pay off.

Besides, what's your choice? ......giving up and getting sicker and fatter?
