The sugar, fat, and salt in highly processed foods, including sugary beverages, fast foods, desserts, and breakfast cereals, make these high calorie foods highly palatable and encourage excess consumption

In fact, one study showed that people who were allowed to eat as much or as little as they wanted ate 500 more calories per day on a diet containing highly processed foods, compared with a diet containing minimally proceeded ones.

Dawg, I posted the study a while back. It’s is shocking, ultimately fat loss is about calorie deficit. The last few months I’ve been reducing my dependence on processed foods and feeling better.

Yep, yep. From my own experience processed food makes me feel hungrier, more tired and bloated.

I deviate occasionally, but for the most part, I feel better eating straightforward food in a more identifiable state. It's better for you, generally costs less, and tastes better. I also enjoy the assembly process most days.

I like that it is focused on influences highly processed foods (sugar, fat, salt) can have on caloric intake, without trying to demonize processed foods. Good, bad, indifferent - when I eat highly processed foods, I tend to eat more calories, which is not a friend of weight management.
