Hi...quick journal entry. I spent more time awake today, but not very active yet. Mostly reclining. Fluid output still too high to remove the drains, but tomorrow is the day. He doesn't like leaving them in longer than a week. So it'll be SO nice to get a shower! And not have four long tubes coming out of me, too. One in particular is very uncomfortable. Oh, this is gross...I had the pain pump, too. A cylinder filled with local anesthetic that is fed through two wires under the skin across the belly. Well, that was $550 not wisely spent because I never felt any kind of relief of the pain from that. I think most of my pain is in the stitched ab muscles (vertically), not in the long horizontal incision and that's where the wires went. So anyway, that was empty, and we disconnected the wires from the cylinder and put the four drain bulbs into the fanny pack thing and the ends of the wires into it to. So I'm sitting on the toilet (no shame at this point!) and I realize the damn wires had dropped into the toilet bowl! So I jump up, freaking out wondering if urine could run up the wires and into my belly, so I tell my husband we have to get them out. My daughter tried, but almost fainted. I pulled one of them out, inch by inch, hurting and breathing deep. OMG. What the HELL are those drains gonna feel like?! I felt nauseous after that and my husband pulled the other one out. That wasn't as bad. So that was gross. I'm taking a good dose of pain meds (thanks ctlss for the advice) before we go tomorrow. That will NOT feel good, I am positive of that.
So, feeling better today. Thought I'd be doing better a week post-op, but think being sick beforehand has a lot to do with that. I'm sorry, I haven't actually read anyone's journals lately. Please don't think it's that I don't care, I just seem to have limited energy and it comes in bursts. Mine's almost gone now. Thanks again for everyone's kindness and support!
