Fluctations... I hate you. I am up this morning but it's less than a pound so I am going to try to ignore it. So stressed last night. College is SO expensive. I will have my Associates degree at the end of this semester and for months I have been so excited about going to a a 4 year university. Well I have been really looking at costs and it is going to be so expensive I don't know if I can afford to go. I am really bummed out about it. I don't want to go into deep debt to Mr. Obama just to go to school. Well I wanted to to to Texas A&M but I have been looking at a cheaper local college. Southeastern is a little closer to me and it's cheaper. They don't offer the degree I want. I want my Bachelors in Human Resources. They offer Business, Management, Finance, Marketing & Accounting. I guess I could get one in Management. I want to finish. I didnt do all of this hard work just for an Associates. I want to go all the way.

Just remember, every day you should be taking in at least a gallon and a half of water between drinking and eating foods that aren;t bone dry. That water weighs 12 pounds! Where the water is in your body's cycle of using it makes a HUGE difference as to your daily weight. Don't let a one day blip discourage you, it is likely just water weight! Stick with your dreams for college too, the degree you get means SO much less than the skills you develop. You could have an English degree and the right skill set and still get a great HR job! Eat like who you want to be, Rick

Thanks Rick. I am determined to go somewhere and finish this degree. I just don't want to get into big debt either. What's funny is that my only aunt set aside $10,000 for school if I want it. I just have too much pride to take it. She has been so awful to her brother (my dad) and my step-mom over the past few years that I would feel like a traitor for accepting her help. I am not going to let water fluctuations get me down. It seems like I have been staying the same weight within 1/2 a pound for 4 to 5 day and then I drop 2 - 4 pounds and then I am stuck again. Oh well, in the long run it is going down.

Amanda why don't you talk to your dad about taking the money from your aunt? You never know he might say take what you can get out of the old bag! Lol I don't think she is a old bag but your dad might if she has been that mean to him! Lol

I would take the money if I were you. Since your aunt has set it aside for you, use it. Talking to your dad about it is a good idea, although you might want to prepare yourself for a negative answer ... I am always in favor of higher education, and doing it debt free (or as close to debt free as you can get) is as good as it gets. You might also want to consider it as an interest free loan from your aunt if it will make you or your dad feel better about it (but don't tell her about it in case you find it difficult to pay it back .... just surprise her when the time is right ...) You have a difficult decision to make ... but I wish you the best luck with whatever you decide to do!

Nah, I can do it on my own... it seems like with my family when you accept help there are strings attached. I would rather owe the government than owe her. The family has asked that she let my handicap sister use the money to but a handicap van with a lift so she can go places easier and she won't do it. Alex is not going to go to college so she will never get to use that money. I honestly don't even think she likes us so I don't know what her motivation was in making the offer? Except that she values education.... My great aunt died leaving her a nice inhertance and that is when she made the offer. I honestly don't think she likes me. I would rather do it on my own.

Amanda, have you looked into financial aid? I know being married makes it harder but you do have 3 kids. It might help somewhat...And if you can, start looking at half.com and amazon for used books. I've been told you can get them for pennies on the dollar. Yes, school can be very expensive. I wanted to get my BA from UWF but it's nearly twice as expensive as the State college. In tghe end, I am actually relieved I stayed here. They offer so much more than a university could have.

Best of luck to you! One of my brothers went to A&M, the other sibs (and nieces & nephews) to UT (Austin) mostly. I know how hard it can be. But do look into scholarships and grants. There are amazingly specific scholarships out there. Also, I agree that a management degree rather than an HR one really won't keep you from getting the job you want. And you might find a prof who can mentor you in the HR area for extra credit. You can make it happen!
