OMG! an AHA moment! I just realized that I have become my own project!!! When I started this journey on October 28, 2013 I was practically at rock bottom with my health and lifestyle. An active lifestyle was looong in the past. The "joy" of eating was non-existent. My diet was "in the toilet" because I ate anything without thinking and skipped many meals. I had a sugar addiction. All my clothes were tight and getting tighter - really tight and uncomfortable. I was feeling down, tired and unhealthy. I knew I had become really unhealthy but I wasn't sure how I was going to fix it. I certinaly did not relish the idea of boring exercise routines or counting everything I put in my mouth. However, I knew I had to change so ... in the middle of the last week of October, the most unlikely time to start my new journey .. I did it, I took the first tentative steps.
Here I am over three weeks later and I have to say, I am much further than I thought I would be. I enjoy what I eat and drink .. real food, every day. I exercise (and I don't huff and puff as much when going up the stairs at home). The swellings in my lower extremeties after a day of work has reduced to almost nil. I gave up the copious amounts of sugar I ingested daily. I am doing things I never thought I would have the energy (or inclination) to do and I am feeling so much more positive about my life in general.
I never realized that the negative effects of being over weight was so far reaching. I did not realize the hold that it had on my very psyche and that it was keeping me from fully realizing my physical, mental and emotional potential. The fog has cleared and I feel so positive about my future goals. I have worked on so many projects and delivered successful results - this time, I get to be my own project and success will be so much sweeter /rewarding.
