Diario di redwinelover, 03 gen 11

Okay, with a bit of prodding, (thank you, youngbug! lol) here is my journal entry. Today I will start my new diet. This one IS a diet, not a way of life - the 17 Day Diet. Start the day off with a hot cup of water with 1 1/2 T. lemon juice (or the juice of half a lemon). I'm also to drink three cups of green tea per day, eat mainly lean protein, veggies, two servings of fruit, pretty sure no bread/grain products for the first 17 day cycle. I'm hoping it'll just take the one 17 day cycle to get me where I want to be... and by the end of it, I can start working out again! Yay!! I say that NOW... it's been 11 weeks since I've worked out and I really am not feeling it... but I also know how much better I felt when I WAS working out. And then I'm going to start hiking again, my husband will be SO happy about that!

Totally OFF the subject here, and mostly for ctlss' benefit... I finally gave my husband the giant nutcracker. Didn't get to it on Christmas day, then put it off, then he had to go to WA for a quick family reunion, so he finally opened it New Year's day! Now, he's one of those people that likes to make guesses (drives me nuts sometimes, too! lol) and he tried guessing around Christmas time. And I told him, You can make a guess every day for the next two years and you will NOT guess what this is. I'd bet you ANYTHING. So he tries - a patio propane heater (very good guess... would love one of those), it's a new Christmas tree - hinged and pre-lit (another good guess, I'd love that one, too!), more shelving for the garage, a bench for the foot of the bed... something FOR the garage, a tool of some kind...on and on. And I kept telling him he'd never guess, might as well give up. So fast forward - he goes to WA, comes home, I push this massive box into the door (barely fit) with my daughter. She goes off to the living room for a bit. And then he's making guesses again! So he says.... OMG, I could NOT believe this... he says, A GIANT nutcracker! (pause), a Christmas tree.... Well, the blood drained from my face, I'm sure, but I sort of mumbled, yeah, right, a tree! ha ha ha... So then my daughter comes back in and I lean over to here and ask, Can you BELIEVE he guessed NUTCRACKER??? WTH?? So then he opens it and he's THRILLED to death about this giant nutcracker. SO not the reaction I thought. I was sure he'd say, A nutcracker... a GIANT nutcracker... okay, WHY? And better yet, WHERE are we supposed to keep such a thing?? Nope! He's all excited and starts opening the box and we pull it out and he's just loving this thing! And finally I say, HOW the HELL did you know it was a nutcracker?? How could you possibly GUESS? (none of the wrapping paper was torn or anything and he's SO not one who peeks) And he starts laughing! Apparently, his sister in WA has a nutcracker collection and decorated her stairs with them like I do with my Santa's and bears. And he's admiring her decorations and she tells him, You know what I really wanted for Christmas but my husband wouldn't let me get? A GIANT NUTCRACKER I saw at Costco! It was beautiful. And I told him I'd forego having the tree and just put the nutcracker in front of the window! So I guess later, he and some of his other sisters went online trying to find one for her as a way to say thanks for hosting the reunion, but they didn't find any. So that's how he guessed, which was still a pretty good guess! Anyway, it went over VERY well, the story is one we will always remember surrounding this nutcracker and he has a place in our dining room in the corner where we will most likely keep him. He may be a Christmas decoration, but he's a sort of gold/beige made to look like carved wood and goes very well in our dining room! lol... and besides, that way it is Christmas year round! So, dear S... doesn't look like our nutcracker will be coming your way!

Oh, D, I am so happy that he loves it....I knew he would, but am a bit disappointed that it won't be coming to live at my house. LOL It is such a cool nutcracker!!! I totally fell in love with it, but finances being what they are, he was beyond my reach. Would love to see a picture of him in all his splendor, residing in your dining room corner. How funny is it that his sister was wanting one for Christmas and didn't get it, and now they are not available anymore. What a bummer for her. Maybe someone will sell one on Craig's List or EBay. Glad that your Christmas surprise was so well received. It is plain to see from the things that you write that he is a wonderful man and that you love him very much. That makes my heart happy. Happy 2011 D, may it be the most special year ever for you!

RWL that's absolutely hysterical! What a way to start the new year! Good luck with your diet, sounds a mix of others I've heard of. Like SouthBeach and some others mixed in. I think the tea, lemond, and water serve as a cleanse.

S - I'm so happy he loves it, too. I'll see about posting a picture of him.... guess we need to give him a name if he's gonna hang around all the time. It must be a stately name, something with presence, or class... something befitting his handsomeness! lol... I don't even know if I told you this part, but I actually got him for $50 off! There was the display one only one day, so I grabbed the magnetic tag thing off the shelving and continued shopping. On my way up to the registers, I passed by him again just to make sure the old man that had been eyeing him didn't grab him. And there next to the display, on the floor, was a new one in the box. Uh-oh... didn't know if I'd get the display if there was one in the box, right? Someone had to have just returned him to the store and they brought it over. So I went up there, paid for my stuff and they sent someone to get the nutcracker for me. The guy comes back with the one in the box and they let me have THAT one for the DISPLAY cost! I should have KNOWN it was meant to be right then and there, huh? And yes, my husband is a wonderful man! There are things I'd change about him if I could... like it'd be nice to get a compliment from him without actually having to FISH for it! lol... but he's wonderful and I wouldn't trade him for the most gushingly complimentary man in the world! I'm warmed that you're happy for me! As I am for YOU and your love of your life!

Youngbug (thank you again, BTW) it very much like SB diet or Atkins or any number of diets. I think the only difference is that for the second 17 day cycle, you eat more one day, less the next, more the following day, etc to keep your body confused to avoid plateaus. I think...didn't read the whole book! lol... seems to be my modus operandi anymore! Oh, one thing about the green tea that I DID read (lol) was that the thinking as to how it helps weight loss may be similar to the way they believe it is beneficial to cancer patients. The recent studies suggest that the way green tea helps is that it cuts off or prevents a blood supply to the tumor (or to the fat as in this case) that the body seems to naturally develop as a means to "feed" the tumor (or fat). There's a name for it... don't recall what it is, though. But I'm sure it also helps with the whole cleansing aspects, too!

D, oh yes post his pic and let's have a naming contest! lol What a deal....it surely was meant to be. There are things about our spouses that we would all change if we could, but you know something...if we did that they wouldn't be the person we fell in love with. I truly beleive that is why so many marriages don't work....the man loves the woman and accepts her the way she is, for the most part, but women go into the marriage thinking that once they are married they can mold the man into what they think he should be, and in the end, the woman ends up frustrated and angry, and the man ends up confused and depressed! If you don't like them the way they are, and want to change them into something else, then why in the world would you marry them in the first place? Oh well, enough of that psychobabble. lol Have a great day, D!

lol... ctlss.. so true! But... if I could change one or two LITTLE things! lol... If you want to add some psychobabble to your psychobabble, "they" say you marry your worst parent! Oh Lord, my dad was VERY distant and not touchable and very stubborn with the compliments! ha ha ha... coincidence?? Okay... as far as names go... I'm gonna start with Frederick. He LOOKS like a Frederick to me- stately, a little uptight, and German, to boot!

I always enjoy reading your journal, rwl.. You're truly gifted. Your diet sounds healthy, too. Are you aiming for a specific number of calories daily? You'll be so slim by the time you're able to do exercise. Update us your progress so that we can be inspired. So happy for you that you have a great family! I heard man & woman usually are attracted as apposite personalities. So, by the way you describe your husband, I can guess yours:) That's how you have so many girl friends! So glad you're my buddy.. Good luck to your new diet and have a wonderful Tuesday!

Hi giz! Well, didn't stick to it completely today, but am telling myself I'm EASING into it! Lol... And I don't know... I kind of stick to the thinking that if God made it, it is good. So I happen to think people should eat grains, should eat eggs, should eat meat...etc. I think a lot of get into trouble with the crap we made into "food" - the highly processed stuff and the fake sweeteners and the highly saturated fats and trans fats. But that's just my own beliefs. I think this whole thing is a process of self-discovery and we'll each have different means of hopefully reaching the same end. For what that's worth :)

Lisa, I know what you mean! Guess I got lucky :).
03 gen 11 da utente: redwinelover
Hi SQ!! Hey you... You can't talk... Look how skinny you are! And you're almost three inches taller than me, too. Anyway, I put on a few pounds over the holidays and I also wanted to get down to about 120 so when I can work out again, and put on weight when I do, I can end up at my goal weight. And you... You are the one that is smoking hot...have you realized this yet? Love ya, girl, my sweet cyber daughter!
03 gen 11 da utente: redwinelover
Hi happy! Hmmm... I guess I'll try to keep my calories below about. 1200 - 1350 or so. Now...if only I can follow the plan! And you know, it sounds a lot like YOUR diet! You probably eat the healthiest diet I've seen! ... And oh boy, did you get that one right about my husband and me being opposites! As long as we live and let live- all is well! Lol...
03 gen 11 da utente: redwinelover
Youngbug... I'll try that! Oh, and so far my husband and I are loving the name Nicholas Von Frederick. What do you think? Cross? Your opinion? :D
