Another day on steak and eggs. I am down another pound to 212. As boring and challenging as it is I have to admit it works. However it is completely unsustainable for me. Too much meat. The formula that has worked is low carb (5% ), med protein (35 or under) and high fat (60% or more). The carbs came mostly from the eggs and baby dills ( dills were not on the plan but I ate 1 or 2 to keep my sanity). Since I ate this morning I am stil full and I think I will have a minimal dinner.

Hi JennBuck - I see you have quite a food challenge with the steak and eggs. I'm trying high protein and low carbs which seems to be working for me as well. I give myself a little more leeway though to make it more palatable. I try to get protein in meat, fish, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc. I find one of the nicest ways for me to get in low cal high protein is Shrimp - and lots of it. Just thought I would give you a few more ideas on the protein input. Good luck, your scale is going in the right direction. Cheers

Lynn: Thank you so much for your input because I am trying to figure out how I can make this work. I definitely need the variety. I need the veg. so those tips will help. I dont eat shrimp but I am thinking to supplement other seafood. The ratios between carb/fat/protein seem to be key as well as keeping calories low. It's been an incredible learning process during this experiment. I am going to use it to find my "ish". :)

I think you are right about the carb/fat/protein. Personally, I don't worry about the fat calories, but I do worry about the total daily calories. I bought some canned salmon (which I never had before) to supplement the proteins and I know some of the guys here use protein shakes which I have only very rarely. Wouldn't even know what to recommend there. The only thing I miss out on is fruit which I eat sparingly because of the high carbs. I also try not to have anything like white bread, flour, sugar which really helps in the blood sugar spikes. I love sweet potatoes so I checked up on the glycemix index. If you boil them they are OK, BUT if you bake them - NOT OK, although even boiled still substantial carbs. Anyway, good luck with this.

Some people may be lucky and may have a metabolism that burns through the calories effeciently...... my metabolism is sluggish from years of abuse aka bad eating and lack of movement. I am aiming to correct as much of that as I can. But I have to calorie watch and carb watch in the meantime.
