207 lbs today. The low carb brownie gain that I was expecting has arrived. let's hope that's all there is :). Grocery day and it's raining like crazy ... not looking forward to the wet and slippery conditions but look forward to the melting. Spring is around the corner ! Have a great day FS friends. I will be chasing ketosis today.

How can you tell when you catch ketosis? I think my strips are old.. Or do you just know by that amount of carbs you eat? How low do you have to go to get there? I want to catch it too, so any suggestions would help. I know eating the Harkin's popcorn and the burger with bun for lunch yesterday really chased it off, but how long does it take to catch it again?

Dboza, in my case I know I am going into ketosis when I get the headaches. When I lower my carbs I feel unwell (headachy) for a few days and then I am there. I had the telltale headache today so I know I am Getting there. I know I am ketosis when my appetite is naturally supressed. I keep myself there by keeping my carbs low and eating lots of meat and fish. I am on a lamb kick today and tomorrow :)

Jenn, How low do you try to keep your carbs?

I try to keep my carbs 20 or under for now. I try not to go below 10. I researched low carb veggies and buy them. Coleslaw is my favourite. I also had choyote recently and spinach. I try to fill up mostly with protein and fats. I add veggies in as my side .... I need to eat veggies to feel okay but I try to measure my carbs very carefully. I also plan ahead so that I know the value of what I am eating. It's what I have to do now until this way of eating is second nature. In maintenance mode I know my carbs will be higher ... I am aiming for about 50 g once I lose all my weight.
