Good morning folks. Today is Day 1 of the Easter Bonanza Challenge so good luck to everyone who has joined 🥳 feeling a little scared considering that my weight seems to be moving 100g at a time. Many people have given me the advice of cutting carbs and I just don’t think Banting is sustainable for me. I’ve seen so many people lose the weight and then instantly pick it up again when they do start up with the carbs .. but if anyone has some success stories, would love to hear please? ❤️ With university and work starting up again, my weekends and weekdays are completely used up and I have been slacking on exercise. Will try to make the time but it is so hard to find some time. I have decided to book a trip to the Drakensburg when I get to under 66 kgs and this will mark 20 kgs lost.. so I am excited about this. The only time that I have off is in July, so that gives me enough time to lose the weight sustainably which I think is important. Have a good week FS family 🤩

I personally think what works for one person might not work for everybody and even though you are losing slowly you are losing and you are doing it in a way that seems to be working for you and aldo enjoying your life and eating good food 😊 Maybe rather than going the whole way of banting you could switch up for a few days /week and have more slow carbs or less fruit etc. Something not too drastic. I eat 100% keto because that's really all that stops me from gaining weight but I'm often jealous of your lovely looking plates and 'food freedom' actually that you have even though your weight loss is slow it feels like you've found something that can be sustained.

If you lose all your extra weight in a way that it isn’t a “diet” and you continue to eat that way for the rest of your life. Then that’s the way to go. No point eating foods you don’t enjoy. It’s a recipe for failure in the long run. So you do you lovely. It’s working👏🏼

Thank you jespes26 and fatgirlslim1982, I am also dreading the thought of having to give up my fast foods, chocolates and other goodies. At the moment, all I’ve done is count calories and this allows me to eat whatever I want (within my limit). At the beginning weight dropped off quick, but I’m now averaging around 400-700g a week in terms of loss. Not too much, and it can take me 2-4 weeks to exit a specific kilogram range 😭 but I think it is actually sustainable because I never feel like I’m losing out on much. You both have given me confidence in my my method. Will continue.. if weight loss stalls for a while, then might reconsider changing it up. Love this community! 🥰 Thulisile — thank you so much. Often recognition for ones efforts, motivates them even further. You are a star!

I know exactly what you mean when it comes to starting back at uni 😭 i feel like thats my biggest obstacle. When all the stress, and deadlines come my way i use it as an excuse to binge or not exercise

I think the best way is whatever works for you - There will always be a million different fad crash diets around, but the only way that works is one that is sustainable. Strangely for me keto (a Form of Banting) IS what I have found to be sustainable, because I feel like 1. It's the most delicious way I have ever lost weight 2. Once I've gotten off the carbs and sugars I feel my best 3. There are wonderful alternatives, such a low sugar chocolate, which makes me feel like I don't miss out. Some people might go back to carbs etc full time, which is their choice, but I think keto has opened my eyes to different ways I can have low carb alternatives - so cauliflower mash instead of potato, or cauli rice instead of white rice, alternatives that are delicious and filling 4. I think the way you are ensuring a calorie deficit is great, because you aren't eating ridiculously low calories, but the long term effects of calorie restriction has been found to slow the metabolism, which intermittent fasting combined with keto has actually been found to help - I guess all research can say different things and point to different ideals, but keto has been very effective for me. I think it 'n my past i definitely harmed my metabolism with severe restriction (like actually 500calories per day, I'm hoping I can fix this)
