So today I need to vent:
For the past 8 weeks or so I have been working out with weights and really pushing myself to do the best that I can. For the first 6 weeks I had a personal trainer 3x a week for an hour. So now I totally understand about building muscles and form. Unfortunately, I still am overweight and I look like I have a beer gut~ Because I was feeling stronger and I thought I was looking better some idiot has to ruin it. I took a boxing class for the first time and the trainer was so nasty to me I almost wanted to slit my wrists and was in a deep depression for 2 days afterwards. Before the boxing class began I had told him that I have been working out with a trainer for the past 6 weeks and he said to me apparently it isn't working! and then said have you taken a look in the mirror lately? And then said that I was in denial! He asked what i was eating and I told him pretty much a healthy diet and he said there is no way you are eating healthy with the way you look! I swear I wanted to die! Do all people overweight get treated like this?? or is it just me?? it's extremely painful when I get treated this way especially when i work out so hard and I really have a healthy lifestyle or at least trying to have one and people assume something else just by looking at me....sigh

I know its a lot easier said than done, but you really need to stop listening to other people. It's tearing you down and their opinions don't really matter at all. I'm sorry he was rude though. At least you don't have to see him again.

True-- I really wish I didn't care what people thought of me....I need to work on that...I guess it's comforting to know that I am not alone in this fight...Just alot of cruel people in the world and I just need to accept that.

That's incredibly rude, especially from someone in the fitness industry. I'm sure it was hurtful, but don't let others dictate your self-worth. As long as you're trying your best and seeing results then keep up the good work! Use those negative comments to fuel your next workout!

you are never alone. And you don't have to accept it, but maybe learn to ignore it. People who are rude often give us little clues before they get really rude. It's their way of checking out what is acceptable. The trick is cluing in and learning to walk away or ignore before it gets really mean. i'm teaching my daughter that. It took me a LONG time to learn it myself. The quickest way is to watch how they observe other people, if they tear down other people in front of you, it's only a matter of time before they will tear you down. Walk away and quickly. You've had a lot of body issue struggles. Those are so debilitating and difficult as it is, without other people putting their opinions on you. (((hugs)))

I know this may seem trite right now - please forgive me for that. I have an all time favorite Eleanor Roosevelt quote that I have to remind myself of frequently. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Quite simply, this guy is a dipstick. He may well ridicule everyONE and everyTHING - fat, TV viewing habits, choice of TP. His opinion is not worth 30 seconds of your thought. Don't give him more credence than he's worth.

And another favorite quote (I've seen this attributed to a lot of different people) "What other people think of me is none of my business."

Thanks Everyone! Hoover, yes i will use it to fuel my next workout, Alex, Hugs back... Vickie, love that quote!! What other people think of me is none of my business"!! I never heard that one and I will be sure to use it and think it! LOL

He should not be in his job, he is a nothing and has many faults. People like that are not worth your time. Those who judge and say things like that are trying to make themselves look good but do the opposite. They make an A__ of themselves!! Keep doing and trying!

I've had people say things like that to me as well before. I think with trainers, it's sometimes how they think they are going to provide motivation, that somehow pointing out your flaws is going to make you say "yes, I need to take care of this" He didn't know where you started. Don't let it demotivate you. It's probably why he needs groupon to advertise his business at a discount.

No no no no no. All skinny people don't treat fat people like shit. As Alex said, shitty people come in all shapes and sizes.

If you need any support, print off this page and show it to the dummy. Then he'll know what we ALL think of him!

Are you kidding me? Is shame his motivational technique? I would stay with the boxing and then kick his A$$.

Kicking his ass omg I would love toooo!!! LOL~ The trainer that i did have for 6 weeks (which unfortunately i can't afford)darn trainers are expensive ugg. but he was great! would always say what a great job I was doing and pushed me that way.. I respond so much better to positive reinforcement~ and he would always say wow look how much stronger you are then last week. etc etc.. he never pointed out that i wasn't losing weight as fast as some of his other clients (which I had watched them literallywittle down in 6 weeks) while I basically stayed the same on the outside.

I was totally aware of it. I don't know why people assume we don't own mirrors lol.. I am totally aware of what I look like..Luv you all for your comments and support. however, Your opinions are none of my business..LOL ..Hehe (j/k)

Dump him and his comments. We need positive comments and support. Emotionally, this would be detrimental to anyone. Don't shut down from comments made be someone who doesn't know what you have done. You are at the gym working out. That is a hugh positive. Find what works best for you. Don't let this guy affect you. Shake it off and just keep going. You are a better person than he will ever be. Keep working out, eat healthy and do portion control. Bootcamp attitude is not for everyone. Focus on everything you are doing right and let go of this negative influence. You keep going. You didnt put it on overnight. Every healthy change made improves your life. Unfortunately some areas of fat are the hardest to loose. Try a cardio class. You know the changes you have made and see them in the mirror everyday. That guy has low self-esteem.

Sorry Alex I didnt mean to Offend you, but that is just my opinion because that is how "I" have been treated. Yes there are great thin people out there that treat Bigger people nice, However I have YET to meet them. So sorry.

No problem Debbie, your opinion is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Just don't turn an opinion into a "fact" that all thin people are like that. They aren't. I'm sorry you haven't met one yet. But they are out there. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Alex, Sometimes its not so much as skinny people as it is people who are very fit, there are some skinny people who are trying to gain weight, but it's those overly fit people who tend to shun those who aren't as in shape. (better) ?
