Dental appointment went well - I have a temporary crown until next week. I was driven in treacherous weather to get to the dentist yesterday ... everything went well and I will go next week to get my new crown put in (wearing temporary now)! Things are going well - taking it easy today but working on more PM content creation! I am creating an action plan for moving organizations during the various PM maturity levels - something that provides practical examples!

My sister bought me a book on creating a simple life as one of my birthday presents at the end of 2014. I just had the time to start reading it. The book is inspiring me to make a change. So, I am now on a kick of simplifying my life one step at a time by getting rid of everything that I no longer use. I have way too much of everything so it is time to downsize and give to other people who need it! I will not buy anything else unless I absolutely NEED it. This extends beyond clothing, shoes and personal effects to household items - I have boxes of things I have never even opened (including things I purchased and lots of gifts that have been doubled or tripled). I now crave simplicity and an uncluttered life. Everyday I will contribute to creating the simplicity I crave in some way. This will be my focus and mantra this year. I hope you all have a great day my friends!

I love this idea, going to look into it. Congrats on your start!

I plan on doing that also. De-cluttering! My first start will be in my office. OH. MY. GAWD! I need a closet in here to hide the stuff piling up behind the door. It's so silly. I get this "frozen" feeling when I go to clean it all up. I just can't do it! Send me some tips! :)

MOM: I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ... I FEEL THE SAME!!! But, my strategy is to "eat" the elephant one bite at a time. Start small and work at it every day. What I do is to have some boxes and bags that are labelled donate or garbage ready before I even start the process. As I sort through the stuff I put them in one of the bags or I take them to their rightful place in my home so the items can be seen and used - I have lots of things for the kitchen which was doubled up because of gifts and the like. I take the donations and give them away or have an org. pick them up at my door if it's a lot. Garbage I bring directly to the dump myself and pay to dispose of them (if they stay in the house ... my hubby comes along and "save" them). I am going to get through the whole house using this method ... even if it takes me all year (consider the kitchen mostly done because I had it completely gutted and rebuilt, living/dining room is 90%). Basement is scary including my office!!! Bedrooms not so much but I have LOTS of clothes to get rid of!

What's the book? Sounds like I'm not the only who could benefit from it. Plan is to weed things out as I get the painting done on my house. I could use some inspiration.

I like that idea already... I think that makes a lot of sense. I just added another lamp to my office, so I can see the stuff piling up behind the door better. LOL! Also I have papers piled up on my desk and behind my computer. I am going to work on this a bit each day. I like that system ... mine will be "Trash" - "File" or "Put Someplace Else"... so I need 3 boxes. LOL! Nothing needs to be out in the open like it is.

WFN, the book is called "101 Ways to simplify your life" - and it's not just about de-cluttering but there was a note in one of the entries about less can be more - it really resonated with me because I have too many things. I especially like the quote "having less of what you don't want, frees you to concentrate on what you do want". So, now I am de-cluttering and asking myself "is this essential?" each time I pick up an item (and being honest when I answer).

I will be moving soon, so I am doing the de-cluttering. I donated clothing to an abused women's shelter a few months ago and the lady called me to see if I have any more and I asked her to call me back in a month. By then I will have gathered the few things I still have for them.

Jenn, thanks for the book name. I too have donated to an abused women's shelter. The back of my jeep is currently totally full f things for the salvation army.

A simpler life sounds good. I also need to declutter, maybe then there would be room to park the car in the garage.

Feels so good to give things away so someone else may use them! Good for all of you! :)
