Okay, popcorn is starting to sneak back into my diet! This is the 3rd day this week I've had some. I think I'll need to hide in a better location, like maybe in the trunk of my car. Then it won't be so accessible. After it's all gone, I WILL NOT buy any more for home. Just have some when I go to the movies.

It's not that popcorn is such a bad snack, but it does have hecka carbs, and I eat too much of it too often. I'll get this addiction under control before long!

I went thru a popcorn phase too! Work vending machines offered little especially late night working hours. It's better than potato chips but still carbs. You can do it!

I understand! Perhaps find a different crunchy snack like raw almonds, pork rinds (low carb), veggie sticks, etc. Good luck!

I agree with you about the carbs but if you add some nuts or seeds to the popcorn you can offset the carbs a bit. Are you making hot air popcorn, much healthier for you than the packaged stuff? Better yet you can control how much you pop and eat at a time. I like to bag it up in zip lock bags and take to work for a snack.(small snack size bags.) Hey I am all for keeping temptations out of your house until you can get a handle on the serving sizes. (Smile)

That sounds all so sensible, TB. But addictions aren't so sensible. :) I usually get the air popped, but then I started adding butter and sometimes cheese to it (parmesan or cheddar), and still eat too much. Size control only lasts so long, which is not that long. When I've gotten the smaller bags, I'd eventually end up eating more than one bag. I have added nuts and such to the popcorn, but that didn't stop me from eating too much popcorn, and just added more cals and carbs to it. The last two times I got popcorn, I got the Kirkland (Costco brand) microwave popcorn. The first time, I ended up giving away a lot of it with the intention of never buying any again... but I broke down and bought a new box about 3 weeks later. I've got to go cold-turkey, and only allow myself some when I go to the movies. I used to do that. I don't know why my craving for popcorn has gotten so bad. I can't seem to get myself to give away what I have though. I'm too cheap to do that twice! :) In the trunk it goes!

Thanks for the support everyone. Smilesong: I've gotten carrots and blue cheese dressing for the late night snack cravings. But, I forget about it when it comes to popcorn. I'll try to remember it more often. drcooper: I'll look up that video. Thanks!

if the microwave popcorn has lots of fat - maybe your body is craving fat - not carbs. healthy fats are ok - do you like avocado?

HCB, thanks for the suggestions. But yuck! I hate avocados. :) I like guacamole though. I'm not sure if it's the fat, but I'll look at my diet history when I don't eat the popcorn. I eat mixed nuts often enough though. I think it's more the crunch and salt, and that popcorn is so light, much more than nuts. They're like chips, but healthier. Anyway, I digress. :)

Drcooper, I watched Food, Inc. Great, life-changing movie. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'll start stop being so cheap and will shop at farmers' markets and whole foods. I'd been trying to go organic, but I'm going to put more effort into it.
