So this weekend was my 6 month mark in this process. It has gone by incredibly fast and painfully slow at the same time. I have had some successes and failures and both categories are important. The failures are far more important because that is where we can improve right?

In the success category everything follows my best achievement. Finding a sustainable WOE. Sustainable through a heavy travel schedule, holidays, birthday parties. Realizing that I could beat my sugar addiction is life changing to me. I eat what I want, when I want and not controlled by cravings.

Failures.
I haven't been able to make exercise consistent, yet. I have to improve this and I am really hoping that i can dedicate myself soon.

Not being able to control this depression. If I don't figure this out nothing else really matters. I am about 7 weeks into the deepest hole I have had in a decade. Is this being an unmedicated bipolar getting worse with age? I would love to think its diet and I could find the right foods but that is not how this works. I love my wife. I love the kids and grandkids. I enjoy having them in my life. But i don't feel anything.

This has to change. I have to change this.

Hey Russell, I hear you. You are able to express what you are feeling and that’s a step in the right direction. Please keep coming back to FS, post what you feel, good and bad. There’s lots of great support here. My thoughts are with you. Peace and love my brother. Keep coming back.

Exercise will create endorphins and improve the depression. If it is too hard to lace up your tennis shoes, ask for help from your kids and wife. Ask them to go for walks with you. If you are able to go by yourself, bring fun music. At this point, with your diet under control (WTG!), it is movement that will save you. 💚

I agree w Just Bananas. Exercise releases happy hormones. Certain foods too. Dark chocolate (I use unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa in my yogurt w stevia), dark greens, nuts, berries, salmon and even coffee. There’s more, maybe research it. SUNSHINE is helpful too. (Vitamin D) and milk.

@blue thank you for the support. I probably should find a BP support site but the 1 I used isn’t around anymore.

@jb, I would say your right but that would be redundant. Lol. My wife is BP too so I am the motivator between us and we are too far from the grandkids. Though we have decided to move this spring to be near them.

@storms. I did a bunch of research about what to eat and what not to. The not to list have been out of my diet since July. In the do are some I don’t eat yet like avocados, Brazilian nuts, dark chocolate like you stated, beans. I’m thinking coffee started the roller coaster so I’m off of it again, will drink black decaf :-) Thank you for the support
