So the stress of the last month is finally over with respect to getting everything done in time for the SCA event. :) it went splendidly well, and I managed to fit into the tight fitting dresses that I made for it--a very good thing since I was called up in court to accept an award (I was gobsmacked by that).

So with that out of the way, and with the fact that I am on the mend from the sinus infection and the chest cold, I am trying to get more stuff done. I have a crapload of cleaning to do here (spring and general) as well as a lot of stuff to get photographed and listed on etsy.

I'm grateful that all the cats are doing well and that Harley has managed to pull round and is growing back her fur in the spots where the vet had to shave her for tests and anesthesia. I am keeping true to my promise to her that every day that it isn't raining or snowing I am taking her out on the harness. She's loving it. :)

This weekend I have been driving back and forth to my neighbor's and rummaging through their scrap wood pile. They're cool and nutty (not unlike me and mine) and have given us free reign to take anything we want out of their burn pile. Although my DH isn't here to help me I am doing my best because I think that with some creative thinking there will be enough lumber (not new, but certainly usable) to make my long awaited raised garden beds. I am very, very very happy about that. I've picked the place I want to site them, and also the final design for the beds themselves (4 beds in a squarish design with an empty center between them where I can put down some fieldstones and have some decorative moss and when the weather is good put out my folding table and chairs. It's ambitious, and while I may not get them all planted this year (unlikely but possible) I am going to try. I need to figure out what if any herbs I can grow here in USDA zone 5a/5b/6(according to different USDA lists we fall under all 3)that would be perennials. And of course that would be Bee friendly so that next spring when I have me some Bees I can have some handy forage for them... Yeah. Long term planning, long time wanting bees. Yeah.

Anyway, the upside of the good weather is that I can actually go outside and do some of the yard work, and stake out the areas I want to put the raised beds. I'm figuring if I do that then it makes it that much easier for DH to just help me make them in one fell swoop. I love him but he tends to over engineer things and that means that a simple thing can often take just as long or longer than a complicated one. Ultimately, the raised beds are boxes filled with dirt. Anything more than that is cake IMO.

Have to take Jess to the vet on Wednesday for her spaying. It's been a long wait but I'm glad it's time. I'm nervous about the fact that I will drop her off at 8am and not be getting her back until the next day. I'm not sure how she's going to react, or what to expect from the other cats when I do bring her home...I suppose I'll keep her in the studio for a few days after that just to keep wear and tear on her down (she and Harley have been swatting at each other and that's probably not the bes thting after surgery). I have to take Electra and Harley back to the vet's later this month on the 27th. Their mandatory rabies vaccination is due then--it'll be 50 bucks--10 dollars each for their vaccinations and 15 dollars each for their office visits (I know I'm complaining here, but since he's going to see them both at the same time why couldn't it be just one office visit instead of 2? huh? and yes, that 15 bucks _does_ make a difference right now.

Anyway less than 2 weeks before my honey comes home and I can listen to him complaining and doing his usual stuff. It's been nice to have the quiet but at the same time I have been missing him terribly.
