Had the pacing wire removed from my chest today with no complications! Thin wire they attach to the heart and run thru the skin should they need to put the patient on a temporary pacemaker. I had 3. 2 got pulled before coming home from bypass surgery, but the 3rd hung on a bit tighter, so NP depressed tissue around wire and cut it flush, then released tissue, allowing wire to sink into subcutaneous fat. Normally not a problem, but I have lost about 15 lbs of that fat so the wire was poking me from the inside. Knocked me out with conscious sedation meds, made a 1/4" incision, grabbed the wire and out it came. Nothing to eat since 10 last night, so started eating on the way home ! Must be that sedation, but my body kept telling me to eat... and carbs... so I have had 3 peanut butter and honey sandwiches and lots of fruit! Way over my RDI but probably just close to my TDEE, if not a few cals over. Back to the gym tomorrow!
