Went out for an errand with my husband yesterday that took a few hours. I skipped breakfast as usual so I wouldn't get queasy on the road -- fasted all day, and planned to wait till we got home to make a good meal. However, my husband got too hungry to make the trip home and was craving McD's. We usually have a "fun food" trip on the weekends. But we had also just discussed staying away from it this weekend after getting through Christmas, New Years, and our Anniversary all in a row.

So, I don't care for McD's because my experiences there are usually disappointing. But instead of sitting in the truck with nothing while he eats, I gave in and tried something from the menu I've never had before. Well, surprise! It was disappointing, again. lol I didn't get what was on the poster. I guess the name of the actual sandwich was in fine print or something? The fries were also old and cold but the drink was good, at least. I ate what I could and handed the rest to him. He doesn't care as much as I do when restaurant/fast food isn't as good as it should be. I care because it's too expensive to be disappointing and it bums out this once-a-week thing we look forward to. I'm not very picky, but eating a disappointing meal after a long fast makes it so much worse now!

I try not to complain too much when I have a bad experience because then he feels bad that he picked it. It's not his fault, I knew better and had to learn my lesson, yet again, and should have just waited till I got home. I told my sister about it and she said "I could have told you that it sucked!" Hahaha... So, yup, next time my man wants McD's, he's welcome to it. I'm sticking with good ol' Wendy's or going home! lol

Haha. McDs has been my go to lunch on the run place, but yeah, you feel disappointed afterwards. I am working tonight it out completely this year. Good luck with your goals!

I had mcdonalds like 7 months ago and I ordered a cheeseburger. I was excited to eat it because i thought it would taste at least kind of good since its so popular, but no, it was terrible. the size was so small, and the only thing i could taste was the cheese. the burger literally had no flavor. I regreted my decision. that was the 3rd time ive had mcdonalds in my life, and i hope to keep it that way. on the other hand, dominos is my favorite. definitely has flavor.

@Daddy Manatee -- I used to like them more back in the day, but it's just not as good to me anymore. And no matter which one I go to now, I don't get what I ordered a lot of the time. I guess that's their business model. lol Thanks, and you too!

@muzankb -- I swear they were better a long time ago. Disappointment makes a good deterrent, doesn't it? The Pizza Hut in my area is actually better than the Dominoes, but we've also discovered a local place that makes way better pizzas than those two and the price is better! :O

Maybe bring some jerky or just any healthier snack with you to eat while he has his meal. I’ve been on my health journey for 2 years now and cook every meal I eat. I tried McDonalds about 1 yr after eating healthy and it made me sick. It was completely disappointing and gross tasting (except the fries were hot & fresh, but still bad for you as they are cooked in hydrogenated oil). Most fast foods are completely junk and inflammatory. I can still eat at Coleton’s and places where the food is higher quality but don’t often eat out as it’s usually very high in calories! So, only very occasionally do I eat out. I manage my type 2 diabetes through food & exercises only, no meds. It just isn’t worth it for me to not eat healthy anymore. I don’t want to be sickly again, like I used to be. Ya know?

@StormsGirl -- I agree! I missed the part that I did have a protein bar with me but I never got a moment to eat it and was so far into my fast at that point, I wasn't in the mood for it. Really, the best thing I could have done was just wait and eat good stuff at home. A part of it was a little social thing to eat with my husband, if that makes sense, but unfortunately I spent a lot of that time disappointed. lol This is why fast food/eating-out is a once-a-week treat and I try to choose things I will enjoy wisely. It had been so long since I've had any McD's, I took the chance and reminded myself why I don’t care about it. I cooked the meal I wanted tonight and all is good, again. 😂 It's something how your taste for things change when you've been away from it for so long. Great job on honing in your T2! Eating stuff that makes you feel bad isn't worth it.

I love it. Rarely have a bad experience. Hence being 238 pounds. Even when thinner I'd grab a quick 4 PC chkn nugget to hold me over on my commute from work to the gym. 🤷‍♀️

Not a big fan of McDs. I only eat it occasionally if there are children in the house. Teenaged grandsons so we still get it once in awhile. I've learned to take the fries home and throw them in the air fryer. Sometimes that's all I get. Just fries .

The things we do for family. Good call to give him the rest . I really do love Burger King ,but I try to limit my visits there to once a year .sometimes it’s extremely difficult to do ,when you leave home and you’re hungry and you’re food shopping and it’s right across the street.

Anything that fashions a drive in - drive out is good as pimples; roadkill if you must but dashboard dinners suck! STOP! Divorce means done with it!
