I went to Endocrinologist yesterday for annual thyroid checkup. Got a big surprise. Some of you know I have been pretty dizzy lately. They diagnosed me with dehydration at cardiologist’s. I haven’t posted other symptoms as I was sure my thyroid was just low. I have had pretty serious hair loss, not only on my head but my eyebrows are sparse. I also have pretty extreme fatigue and feeling of lethargy, joint pain, bad brain fog, and interrupted sleep patterns. All can be signs of low thyroid. I just thought I was having a bout with my Hashimotos. Well turns out dizziness/ low standing blood pressure was only a symptom not a diagnosis …I have what at this point is called adrenal fatigue. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this or has knowledge of this? They are throwing around words like Addison Disease and Cushing Disease. Dr is doing more tests but sounds like treatment is steroids. I’m not excited about that for several reasons. I googled it but wasn’t satisfied with results so any input would be appreciated. Especially alternative treatments. Thank you!

Emily, thanks for the info. We did have our house checked for mold last year as we had a flood. All came out clean. Sorry you went through all that!🩷 Storms, I haven't researched that part of adrenal insufficientcy but I am chronically low in all vitamin B and vitamin D. I take supplements and try to eat foods high in those vitamins. 🩷

My suspicion confirmed. Adrenal fatigue is a real thing. You are correct— low blood pressure is never a diagnosis— it is a symptom of an underlying process, often times undetermined

Sorry to hear that! My aunt had it so bad she couldn't leave the house and could only have one child's family over at a time cause of the noise. So I'm glad you caught it early to prevent it from getting worse. I thought I had it for awhile (have PCOS Instead) so from what I had read, stress seems to be a huge thing to try to limit and certain cardio or heavy weights can produce too much cortisol so that might be something to research. Not sure what you do but with my problem I've had to adjust my workout length/intensity to lessen cortisol. But I'm sure there will be a lot of other natural things out there to help it. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck! Having something new can definitely be overwhelming trying to figure out...

prayers for you Diana I've researched thyroid problems since 2015 when my Tsh level was a 10.8 and I had to be put on strong thyroid meds they put me on levothyroxine and it was bringing my hair out I slept 14-16hr a day I stayed so tired couldn't do anything except sleep, brain fog, memory loss was crazy and I gained from 270lbs to 374 maybe 380 at most in 6mo time my whole body was swollen and Dr's couldn't even draw blood from my arms because they couldn't find the veins from alot of swelling in my arms I saw heart Dr he said my heart was fine and healthy but put me on Lasix water pill 40mg along with another water pill that had blood pressure med in with it and the first doses together i peed 7 times the first hour well the first week I was down 10lb and by the next week and half I was down 25lbs all water and alot of it came off my upper arms that had gotten so big they were awful it's mostly why I had large bat wings that still to this day have some inflammation and swelling in them but hang pretty bad. I went back to my Dr after researching about T3 and T4 level in thyroid and your levothyroxine only helps your T4 level and then you can still have a low T3 level and never no it because most physicians and even most endocrinologist are only testing the Tsh level and that it I had read alot of information about Armour thyroid which is more of a natural thyroid hormone and it has a way to help both the T3 and T4 level so I demanded the Dr change me to it or I find a new Dr. she changed my levo to Armour thyroid and my hair quit falling out and I quit sleeping 16hr a day memory loss got better and depression has set in bad.I an doing better now with the depression and anxiety and ptsd but still not the best . I've been on Armour thyroid since 2016 I like it better than levothyroxine for me . advocate for yourself cause even endocrinologist won't check your T3 and T4 level unless you demand it and pay for it. I daw a endocrinologist back in 2021 she still would not do the T3 and T4 test and wanted to switch me to levothyroxine and I took it one month and didn't feel like it helped me as Armour thyroid does so I would not go back to her and had my family Dr refill my Armour thyroid. she just currently lowered my dose from 240 to 180 because she said that my Tsh level showed low and I was taking to much of the medicine and I feel fine .But before it kept being raised as I couldn't get out of the depression and sleeping 16hr a day. after I got rid of some of the depression this last year and have lost weight with ozempic and this app has been a great help to me I'm doing better not sleeping but 6hr a night but also going thru early menopause at 46yrs old now hot flashes are the worst part of the day and night. I've had pcos for years and now menopause going thru it so hormones are crazy just do lots of research and advocate for yourself. prayers for you to feel better and find the right solution for your needs.

I have had low thyroid and possible adrenal issues in the past. Always related to stress. Do you get enough sunlight? Sunlight and vitamin d is a prescription for this condition.

I'd go see a naturopath. There are a lot of other ways to heal and treat adrenal fatigue.

I’ve heard of adrenal fatigue happening from caffeine abuse. Not sure if that applies to you. Just scrolling by.

Kenna, I was hoping you would respond. I am slowly getting through researching everything I can find on adrenal issues and trying to figure out what things apply to my situation so I’ll be more informed when I see Dr again. Dr did ask me if adrenal issues/Addisons runs in my family. I told him I didn’t think so but when I got home and told my family members, they told me I have 2 cousins on my dads side that have Addisons. Thought that was interesting. Also Dr said people with one or more autoimmune issues ( thyroid in particular) are more likely to have adrenal issues. 💜 Chris, This is interesting but I live in the desert so yes I get plenty of sunlight. I hadn’t heard that before. 💜 Mistaken, I do drink coffee in morning, just 2 cups and rest of day is water only. 💜 moms school, I agree about finding a more natural way to treat this. I’m lucky, my endocrinologist is in top 10 physicians in US and is always open to more natural ways to treat things. 💜

Sara Riley, Oh my gosh! I could’ve written your comment 20 years ago! We had very similar experiences! When I was finally diagnosed with Hashimotos in the 1990s, I had gained 60 lbs in 6 months, was sleeping 15+ hours a day, couldn’t function, normally, etc. They had tested me twice for low thyroid but only the TSH. I was borderline so they said it wasn’t that. Finally after being told it was in my head, my gynecologist of all things referred me to a new Dr who tested the T3 and T4. I was crazy low! I had by that time lost my job because between fatigue and brain fog, memory issues, I was a mess. Finally found a Dr who was good. It was a long process and did have my thyroid taken out( don’t recommend that unless absolutely necessary but it’s what they did back then) I was on Armour for a bit but I didn’t do well on it. The Dr said it could be that because it’s pigs thyroid and each time you get it it’s from a different pig, it’s difficult to regulate the meds. I do know several people on it and they do fine like you. Thank you for responding to my post and I hope you continue to get better! 💜
