They grow wild around my area but I’ve never tried them. What would you say they are similar to in taste?

Hey Val, Fiddleheads (we had them fried in garlic butter) are unlike anything else I've tasted before. When they first are cooking they smell like fresh ferns (if you are a shade gardener you'll know what I mean). As they cook, they retain their crunch and the end flavour is utterly unique - a bit earthy with hints of other green veg like asparagus/beans/spinch. Since I'm experimenting with trying new things, for me this is a win and stays on the list of Yup and not Yuk.

oooh Ann, good for you for trying new foods!! I love fiddleheads...but alas, the ferns that I have planted in my gardens are not the safe, edible fiddlehead producers! 😔
