Diario di Soulnoid, 01 lug 12

Day 161- 1 more lb and I have lost 40lbs total. Getting closer to my next goal. My BMI is 30, 1 more point and I am not longer obese, just over weight, LOL. So the journey continues……

I went to the last concert for this tour of DMB on Friday night, I did not drink at this one and had front general admission for the show in Hershey, PA. So we were on an Astroturf field and after about an hour into the show my legs started to cramp from standing on the Astroturf. It is like standing on a thick padded carpet for a long time, your body keeps trying balance itself, so it was one long 3 hr workout. At a few points I had to bend down and stretch out my legs and feet. I kind of could not wait for it to be over because I was getting tired. Also like I said we were in the general admission area and the crowd gets to me with the pushing and jockeying for spots through the concert. Then add in your toooo drunk to stand in one spot folks and it gets really fun. Had about 3-4 times where I had to turn around and push/move a drunk away from me as they stand there with a lit cigarette in their hand, I was scared I was going to get a nice burn in my $50 concert jersey! It really made me wonder if I act like that when I drink?

OK, silly question here for the runners, when I run a 5k is it OK to wear earphones? Or is it something frowned upon because you may not hear someone around/behind you? I am finding I have a much easier time running when I have some tunes in my ears and I doubt I will have someone to hang with when I run the 5k, my son will way outpace me if I try to hang with him.

Congrats on the 39 - and will celebrate properly at the 40. Don't you love nice round numbers? BTW - Interesting observation on the concert.

Sorry the concert experience wasn't better - I can't stand being in a crowd of drunk people!! I always get so mad and just want to shove people away! As far as the headphones go, most races allow you to have headphones.. there are a select few that don't allow it for various reasons, but you can probably bank on being able to wear them. I like to wear mine when I'm running too, and I did wear them at my 5K back in May.. You do still need to be aware of your surroundings and courteous to other runners, but that doesn't mean you need to be checking behind you/moving aside every time someone is coming - most courses are wide enough to allow people to pass, so unless you are in a line of runners that are taking up the whole path, you should be ok..
