Kenna: I was just looking at Black star canyon, that on is definitely on the list. A couple miles in the sand sounds treacherous! Great job :-)

Try to go over to Vallecito Lake. It is gorgeous. Country Market there is an excellent place to eat.

We used to hike in San Dimas canyon a lot, we saw some mountain lions and stuff but it was so much fun!! That was over 15yrs ago though, so who knows what it looks like now.

Hi jan-e333: I live in California, so it might be a while before I can get to Valecito Lake (I think that's in Colorado). But I will check it out if I'm in the area!
Klynn: I've hiked around San Dimas before. I like that area quite a bit, I might have to go back before too long. Next weekend I'm going to try somewhere a little closer to me, we will see.

Nice! When we all (us parents & 4 adult kids) lived in So. Cal. - San Gabe Valley, we would hike where a waterfall was the end destination. Now husband and me live in rural New Mexico, while oldest daughter lives in Seattle. We live near the Gila Nat'l Forest and Wilderness, so we have a lot of trails to choose from. Nothing beats being out in nature.
