Surgery messes with your body. It needs time to heal and adjust. Don't worry about the weight. Just keep up with your good habits. ♥️

If you've been calorie-conscious yet still made some less than desirable choices such as soups and sandwiches, lunchmeats and snacks it is likely mostly water weight accumulated by the additional sodium consumption. Just a guess because it happens to me when I get sick and revert to those things. You'll get over this.

I don't know all what your body is going through not just from having surgery but now with adjusting to missing parathyroid. Take care of yourself and go easy. I know you don't want to gain, but maybe some really satisfying lower calorie but high protein food might help you feel better and stronger.

Saw the surgeon today and the lab results on thyroid said it was cancer. But it’s out now and we will keep a check on other half and life is good. Also, having half a thyroid, a lab isn’t done for a month as it takes a minute to know how the half of thyroid is , excuse me, putting out. So I see the endocrinologist on the 28th of Feb for lab and surgeon again in March to check my vocal chords.

Caraken, I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Messing with hormone-secreting organs ... y'never know how the body will adjust and how long it'll take. Did the surgeon remove half the thyroid *and all four* of the parathyroid glands? (I'm hypothyroid with a goiter, and had three of the four parathyroid glands removed a couple of years ago; no malignancy but I had hyperparathyroidism causing elevated serum calcium.) The parathyroid is amazing: They can surgically remove all four from the throat area and implant just one in the fat of the arm and still preserve normal function! The surgeon left one parathyroid gland in place in the throat in my case.

I just had the inflamed lower right parathyroid taken out all others were ok. He removed the right half of thyroid because of a pre cancerous spot but lab testing showed it was cancer But it’s out so we will just keep an eye on the left half.

Wow... Caraken, I'm glad it is out. If there was any question about it being the right move to have surgery, it is anwered. Hope everything gets back to normal soon for you.
