Kaylinrenee is right! Count the calories consumed vs calories burned and you will lose weight as long as there is a deficit. You can eat some of your favorites in portion controlled ways!

Motivation comes & goes sadly. BUT, you CAN eat anything you want here. There are no restrictions! Like HCB & Kaylin said, there are ways to do it that work.

I think of meals that I like that are lighter, such as white meats and fish, more fresh fruit and salads to eat with the food I love. Try and think of desserts that are lighter too. I hope you can find a happy balance.

Many aspects of life require self control and that has to be practiced. I practice not slapping someone up side the head for stupidity almost every day, but I am older now and I just curse at them — see, self control in action. Controlling our eating habits is just another self control issue that we need to learn

I feel ya. I've been on a diet everyday for 40 some years and its hard. lol. Try not to get yourself down, give it your best and I hope your successful.

Sjodens— motivation gets you started on your journey but it will likely not stick around long enough for you to meet your goal—- what will keep you going is HABIT. You have a real life and you can have treats. Portion control, moderation, healthier meals most of the time and less optimal choices just once in a while. And you have to create a sustainable activity plan. Hiking, swimming, dancing, Pilates and some strength training. Fat does not burn calories. Your muscles do. No muscle equals a skinny fat situation. You don’t have to spend hours in a gym but you can buy hand weights and search the internet for workouts that meet your needs. You can do this!!!

Hang in there - just do the work every day, motivation is a myth. I also feel like I need motivation all the time, but when I just follow the plan suffering and hating it, it still works. Thank you for sharing.
