Tracli, I need you do one thing. I need you to have an honest conversation with you. I want you to tell yourself who you want to be. I want you to tell yourself why you want to be that "new" you. Then I want you to recognize the things you have to change to make that new you happen. I want you to be willing to accept that this journey is not easy. It is not fair. It is humbling. Then, I want you to have faith that it will be worth it. After that, tell yourself that hard does not mean it is impossible. Tell yourself that you are not alone. Tell yourself you have joined the community that will help & support you through your exodus event from transitioning from old Tracli, to New Tracli. I also need you to know, that if you always eat the same things you've always eaten; you will always weigh what you have always weighed. This conversation may cause you pain. This conversation may cause you to cry. This could also very well be the conversation that flips your mentality & motivates you to get to climbing this mountain. You can do this. Accept that it is hard. Enjoy the journey, knowing that it comes with great rewards. You can do this. We band of climbers of mountains are here to help you. If you are ready to fight, the fight is now. If you truly want to go to the peak, we are all going; & we will take you with us.

Jonathan is so right, this conversation is the hardest one i ever had to have, but so needed to do it... this community is so helpful and the support from the members is awesome, i only started this a little over a week ago and my energy level is so much better and also my depression is on the way out the door.... you can do this! :)

Start slowly and do not try to change it all at once. One small habit at a time. Go for a short walk, add a fruit or veg to one meal a day, drink a glass of water instead of pop, etc. You can do it :)

MellyBean has hit on the key. Start small. Gain momentum. Change larger issues. Gain more momentum. Change even larger habits. Gain even more momentum. Before you know it, you are doing it. You have become a climber of mountains & you are headed to the peak. All great things start small. They become great by not stopping. You can do it, if you do not quit. It's OK to fall down; but it is unacceptable to stay down. Get up. Keep going. We do not quit.

Exactly what Jonathan said, you need to have a serious and most likely painful conversation with yourself about where you are now, where you want to be and the changes that you need to make to get there. I'm not a list person, but my wife is and I'll help her make even the simplest lists to get things down. We'll get overwhelmed when people come to visit and we need to get the whole house cleaned up. Pretty overwhelming when you think "House - Clean", but when you break things down to: 1. Clean kids toys in living room 2. Fold throw blankets on couch and chair 3. Take recycling to recycling center 4. Clean upstairs bathroom 5. Change sheets in guest bedroom 6. Clean downstairs bathroom 7. Straighten up dining room 8. Vacuum And even those items can be broken down further into smaller steps if needed. Once you have a list, be it a 'House Cleaning' list or a 'Food Habit Change' list, you can start checking off each step as you get closer to your goal. You should at a minimum start logging everything you eat, log it to the nth degree. Get yourself a food scale that can weigh in grams and log everything. This will help you set a baseline of where you are right now and create a habit of being able to log & journal what you eat. It's amazing how fast little actions turn into habits. Then make a list of things you would like to change about what and how you are eating. Make your goals small and achievable. One initial goal that I had was that if I couldn't weigh it, or knew the EXACT nutritional content of the food, I wouldn't eat it. This little goal had prevented me the other day from eating out when the wife and I went to celebrate mother's day. We frequent a lot of coffee & tea shops. I ended up just having a cup of 'Nitrogen infused, cold brew coffee', she had tea & a bowl of oatmeal. In the past I had gotten some sort of breakfast burrito there, but without knowing the exact contents of the burrito (wrap, eggs, ham, potato, salsa, etc..) I couldn't log it. You can do this, you are not alone. We may not be able to high-five you when you check of an item from your list, but we can support you through words of encouragement!

Since you've been through a break up is it possible that your depressed? A lot of us eat when we are depressed I don't know if you've already done this but if not it might be time for a long talk about your weight with your doctor. There could be issues you need to deal with there.

I know starting is the hardest thing to do. But you can do it! I know you can cuz I'm doing it too. My biggest problem was that I just didn't know when to stop eating. when I used to get "going" nothing could stop me. Things changed when I tried the LCHF/keto lifestyle. This way of eating helped me feel full and stop thinking about food all the time! And I used to always be hungry and always obsessed what I'm going to eat for next lunch or dinner... and all of that is gone now. I'm not suggesting this is the right thing for you (I had an advantage since I don't like sweet food or fruit), but you could give it a try and see. If you really can't give up on carbs I hear Carb nite is very good for some people! Good luck babe!
