Diario di Sugar Cat, 28 mag 15

The chocolate covered doughnut I ate last night was delicious...so I decided to eat another one immediately after. That's part of my issue: I can't eat "just one" of anything. It's almost like I go into a trance when I'm eating and ignore all reasoning and common sense. Ignoring the inner voice that says "What are you doing? Stop it!"

Maybe you should start a group "For those of us who can't eat just one". I'd proudly be your first member.

Sugar Cat, i feel your pain, because that is exactly what happens to me! I just can't eat one, then I feel guilty later. I need help, too!

I had gotten bdown to 181 lbs last year and now I am back up to 198 trying to not hit 200 again, uggh!

It's truly difficult, but keep your head up we all know how hard it is to limit ourselves to only one of anything. :)

It's that damn dopamine and how it's released in response to sugar and sweet foods. We're hardwired by nature to want calorie-rich foods. Not very helpful now that we're not running through fields to take down big animals for food though. Now it works against us, sadly. Keep your head up!

Hey, I do the same thing so I can truly relate. It is a difficult task. Just as soon as you think you have it under control, you don't! I wish that inner voice was stronger.

I'm the same way with stuff like that, once I start I can't stop at just one. So I just have to not start at all. There are times in the bakery department when the doughnut case is like a magnet calling my name, lol.

Try to ask yourself this question before eating. After I eat this, will I truly feel satisfied and happy that I ate it? If your "gut" answer is NO, perhaps you can tell your brain NO also?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I truly appreciate them. I basically went on a month-long binge that caused me to gain 12 lbs within a few weeks. Twelve! And the worst part is, the worse you eat, the worse you feel. I became too lethargic and never felt well because of all the blood sugar flucuations associated with my poor eating. i am slowly trying to gt back on track, even though it's a true struggle to even start again. Oh, and buffybear, a group is a great idea!

I hear you, Sugar Cat! If I eat spaghetti, I will eat it until my stomach hurts. There are certain triggery foods I just can't have. Pasta, pizza, soda, breads. I have decided I'm no longer a pasta/pizza/bread eater or soda drinker. My plan is to stay away from all my trigger foods until I feel strongly I can have just a bite or two without going all Tazmanian Devil on it, LOL. It's a process...

I was in that same trance last night, eating pizza and cookies. After I had been so proud of my willpower resisting one of my other trigger foods earlier this week, I fell face first into a pepperoni pie! :) I feel your pain. I should have skipped ordering the pizza and made the soup I was thinking of before my kids got into my head. :)
