This deserves a 2nd entry for today.......
This weight gain issues this month has me so bugged today I can't stand it. Heck I analyze data for a living...why can't I get this figured out I ask myself. So, I have finished most of my prep for fathers day tomorrow and decided to sit my ass down and figure it out. Thank god for my spreadsheet of data that I keep monthly and have been since I started as this site does not really give me what I need in "reports", I keep it all monthly so I can do quick slice and dice to get after it. So I would not normally change my WOE mid-month, but this gain is getting ridiculous and I can not let this go on for another two weeks.
I think I am at the root of the problem....I went back and looked at my two most successful months, analyzed the calories in, calories burned, macro-nutrients (fat, protein, total carbs) and micro nutrients (sodium, cholesterol, fiber & sugar) and I took the averages of those for those couple of good months. Then I looked at my current month averages for same. EYE-OPENER!!!!! Some of these are significantly out of wack. Although my calories in and out are about the same my cholesterol, fat and sodium are significantly higher now. My protein is also higher and my carbs are lower now. I am going to readjust to the levels of the averaged successful months for the remainder of June and see if I can get this moving again....fingers crossed!!
Oh yes....forgot to mention, although my calories burned are about the same, the "what I am doing" is considerably different. Need to get more of the strength training back in there for sure!
So, my DH got on my butt some last night and told me I was slacking off and not trying hard enough. Boy, that really hurt my feelings and then it really pissed me off. Needless to say, it didn't make for a very happy evening, but it did get me to thinking that he was probably right, hence my need to figure this out today and take action.
My PTP has referred me to a cardiologist this week for ecocardiogram & stress test and full heart risk evaluation. No strenuous activity until I get the all clear, per doctors orders. With my brothers untimely passing in April at age 56 of a massive heart attack, she does not want to take any chances. I have a huge genetic propensity to heart problems. So you see, it is critical I am on top of my sodium, cholesterol, fat intakes so I do need to watch those really closely and make them my priority. I am not going to get all worked up over the protein v carb numbers that drive alot of weight loss plans, mine really has to be about the nutrients that cause heart disease so enough lean protein and complex carbs of veg, fruit, nuts, & whole grains will be where it is at for me and keeping in my macro and micro goals.
The Goals Are: Calories In: 1600-1700 Calories Out: 2500-2700 Exercise: 30 min/day avg Protein: 105g Carbs: 135g Fat: 60g Cholesterol: <=300g Sodium: <=1300g Sugar: <=25g Fiber: 30-45g
So tomorrow is a wash and new plan starts Monday. Although tomorrow is full of seafood (plank roasted salmon, oysters, scallops wrapped in proscuitto, stuffed clams) on the grill, quinoa shrimp salad, grilled asparagus, and Evie's recipe for Low Carb Key Lime Pie. Probably impossible to record it all but I will try.
Getting this all down in writing was pretty cathartic and I feel much better now. What a good RE-FOCUS won't do, huh?

Babs, everyone needs to do just this - every once in awhile. Although I don't happen to see anything scary w/ your gains, I do understand your desire to get things moving again. And I commend you for finding the macronutrients that help, or hinder. Personally, I think if you eat according to what you know to be healthy for YOU - and you watch your portions ... add a little exercise, and keep up w/ your water... and I think you should be back on the road to successful losing!!! Great job on making this your priority! Don't let the push you got last night hurt you... thank him... cause in the end, it may be the very thing that you needed. Much Love!!!

Babs - It is one thing to be able to "crunch numbers", it is another thing to have the common sense to use the data to your advantage! Good for you!

Babs, I am glad that you were able to sit down and figure out what you needed to do! Sometimes that is truly what it takes. As for DH...mine does the same for me, and it is because he loves me and wants me around..I suspect your's did it for the same reason! HUGS and enjoy your Father's Day feast...it sounds marvelous! Then watch out Monday! Have a great day!

Babs - Hang in there Girl! Good you took the time to sort it all out. Sometimes we just have to STOP. I appreciated all you said--I'm having some of the same issues--so I too need to go back and check what was working best and what I need to ditch. Glad you are back on track--have a great Father's Day!

Babs, I sympathize entirely with your feelings of frustration. As you are genetically predisposed to heart disease it is so important that you focus on reducing the risks by having a heart healthy diet. I'm always amazed at your ability to analyze your diet history so effectively. You remain in my prayers, my friend. Have a blessed Sunday!

Hope all that works out for you girl..Take care of YOU...Bren

WOW, I am so impressed with your record keeping. I used to be like that. I am an accountant by nature and nurture, but I do not even balance many of my accounts anymore. Wish I had your drive, but I like life a little simplier now, so I just keep a food diary each week, then I keep them around for a couple of weeks, then in the shredder they go. Please, do be careful. Heart desease is the silent killer for women, great that you are going through the testing and being careful until you know what is going on with your body. I will be thinking about you. Take care.

I hope everything goes good with the tests. I have heart issues in my family as well so I can def relate. It sounds like you have really figured everything out and I wish you the best of luck! You will get back to where you want to be. Very upsetting what the DH said...you need to focus on YOU and do what's right for YOU. =)
