No weight loss this morning. I can't expect to see the numbers move every day though. Last night we picked about 12 watermelons out of the garden. It was hard work. We cut open a Charleston Grey and everyone swore it was the best. Then we cut open a Tendersweet Orange and everyone swore it was better. LOL! I've really enjoyed growing my watermelons this year. I think next year I am going to grow only a few varieties instead of 7 different types. My digital camera is messing up. I got it for Christmas and I loved it but I should have taken it back because it keeps saying lens error and turning itself off. I wanted to take pics of my watermelons for facebook. I need to post FREE WATERMELONS on my page to get rid of them. Bringing watermelons to work is not like bringing squash or tomatoes. I am not hauling 4 or 5 20 pound watermelons into the office - whew! it was a workout just picking them! I have a Carolina Cross that is getting pretty big. It's maybe 45 or 50 lbs. It's not going to be a prize winner or anything but it's still a big boy. Well enough about my melons. I bought one of my books for Fall last night online. At the college it's $130 new and I found it used for $55 including shipping - go me! I am trying to be as thrifty as possible. The kids go back to school in a couple of weeks and I have to buy my books for school & go to the dentist. August is getting expensive!

Go you for finding a deal. Maybe you can go old-fashioned and start bartering your watermelons in exchange for dental services and books. This time of the year is very expensive. I don't know when they started demanding the parents supply everything. When I was a kid all we had to bring to school was a notebook, pencils and crayons.

I'll trade for a good watermelon :D - I am so inspired by your weight loss. I haven't been talking to people in the last couple of weeks, but I am getting back into it. I am not looking forward to 'back to school' either. It is the first year of high school for my daughter - so it will be all fashion..she is already talking 'hair extensions'

I would love a fresh chicken! Actually just the eggs - I'm not much into killing my own food. LOL!! Not that I see anything wrong with it, I just don't want to do the dirty work. :D I am so glad my kids haven't gotten picky with school clothes yet. They haven't a clue about brand names etc - thank goodness!

Amanda, if you don't like killing your own food then how could you possibly eat fresh eggs? Aren't they just baby chicks getting ready to hatch?

I hope you know I am just kidding. I feel the same way. I know where my food comes from but I don't think I could handle seeing it while it was alive and then eating it.

Good job getting your book for so much less. College books are so expensive.

LOL Keli! I can handle seeing it alive and then eating it, I just don't want any part of chicken preparation. My brother did chickens for FFA a couple of years ago. He got about 30 baby chicks from Tyson and raised them to show at school. Well his one prize chicken got like 2nd place and we were left with about 17 chickens to slaughter. I sortof watched. It's not something I want to help with if I don't have to. When I was about 4 my mom's best friend asked me if I knew where eggs came from - I said no and she told me they came from a chickens butt. My mom said I wouldnt touch eggs for months. LOL!
